You will have access to various room types, study lounges, and free laundry facilities. We also allow you to choose your own roommate, and first-year students have the option of being a part of a Residential Learning Community.

For your convenience, dining halls, wellness facilities, and academic buildings are just a short walking distance away. Each living area has multiple Resident Assistants (RAs) and a full-time Resident Director (RD), who can help you when you have questions or concerns.

On-Campus Support

Facilities is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the buildings and grounds at the University of Hartford. Our offices are located next to Public Safety, in the Operations Building at the northeast corner of campus (Parking Lot E).

The Department of Public Safety encourages and supports the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to our campus, while ensuring a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment for the UHart community to live, learn, work, and play.

Residential students are assigned a campus box number each yearCampus box numbers are available in Self Service. Mailboxes are located on the lower level of Gengras Student Union. Students should contact Mail Services for more information.

Keeping Hawks healthy is our number one priority. The Division of Student Success provides several resources to keep the campus community healthy and safe, including an on-campus medical facility, counseling and psychological services, and wellness programming. We are here to provide students with resources that allow them to do their best.

Meet Our Team

Resident Directors (RDs) are full-time professional staff members who oversee the residential experience, management, and operation of a residential area. RDs collaborate with the Division of Student Success (DSS) and academic partners to promote residential engagement and learning, as well as support students’ social, personal, and academic success. RDs supervise area RAs and help them create to create active, engaged, and inclusive communitiesThey also connect students to campus resources; clarify policies; serving as a campus hearing officer; address residential concerns; and partner with Aramark Facilities to resolve facility-related concerns.

Resident Advisors (RAs) are returning student leaders who serve as students’ first point of contact on floors or in buildings. RAs play a vital role in developing communities that are active, engaged, and inclusive. RAs do this by interacting with, as well as facilitating interactions between residents; connecting students to campus resources; completing administrative tasks; facilitating community meetings, mediating conflicts; facilitating on-going community developmental activities and programs; enforcing safety measures in cooperation with Public Safety; and using duty responsibilities to shape positive student behavior.

Residential Life staff members are available to meet with students during normal business hours or at other times, by appointment.
